While braces used to be the go-to method for straightening out teeth, advances in dental health over the years have brought us a few new options to consider. More and more people are using alternatives to braces for faster, more appealing options. However, not everyone is a candidate for these different alternatives, and they range in price, so be sure to discuss a dental plan with your dentist before decided on one option.
1.Veneers
Instead of years of braces, many people opt instead for veneers . Veneers are attached to the tooth with glue by your dentist or orthodontist after the entire front surface of the tooth enamel is removed. The veneer is a thin piece of tooth-shaped porcelain or plastic that is placed directly on the tooth where the enamel has been removed.
2. Invisalign
Invisalign is a series of invisible aligners that are fitted to mold directly over your teeth. They aligners are switched out about every two weeks as your teeth and your dental bite shift into alignment. Because Invisalign aligners are custom and individually made for each patient, this treatment option is one of the more experience alternatives.
3. Clarity Braces
Instead of metal braces, many people opt for clear braces called Clarity Braces. The ceramic brackets that straighten teeth are clear so that they are not as noticeable. However, the actual brackets are larger than metal brackets and take longer to straighten teeth than traditional metal braces.
4. SmartClip Braces
SmartClip braces are an alternative to traditional metal braces that do not require elastic bands to work. This type of braces has small metal clips built into the brackets to secure the wire. Patients wearing SmartClip braces won’t need to see their orthodontist as often, and SmartClip braces generally align teeth in about 1/3 of the time as traditional metal braces.
