Water irrigation systems, like the Waterpik Classic Dental Jet Flosser seen here, can help clean your teeth and gums, but shouldn’t be a substitute for brushing or flossing.
While a water flosser can help to remove loose food particles from hard-to-reach spots in the mouth with a quick, pin-pointed burst of water, these water irrigation systems don’t remove plaque.
Dentists will normally recommend this product to a patient that either has periodontitis or is at risk for gum disease to help further clean the mouth. Systems like the Waterpik work well for people who find it difficult to floss due to crowns, periodontal pockets, bridges, braces and implants.
